I’m moving my blog to http://www.mayasblog.typepad.com  please updade your bookmarks :)

Over at Hobbyworld the DT has been challenging eachother all week long. We had a lot of fun coming up with hard challenges for eachother and the results has been stunning! Today it’s my turn to show what I made after being challenged by Tesa. My task was to make a card in a shabby/romatnic style with roses/flowers, ribbon, distressed edges, chalking and some bling. I actually forgot about the ribbon but the rest is there. It was really a challenge for me!

IMG_8043

I had a beutiful resin chair from Prima in my stash, saved for a fitting project. Even better, I just got a new die from Spellbinders in the shape of a window that was perfect for a romantic card. I picked out a romantic paper, some bling and lots of flowers.

I hade a great time doing this challenge, sometimes it is fun and inspiring to make something that is not your own style. Thanks for the challenge Tesa :)

I made a small book with some of my printed mini instagram pictures. They have some white space above and below the picture so it’s perfect to make into photo books. I just played around making the covers. Some distress ink, stamps and a wodden arrow. It turned out kind of cute I think :)

SMASH* 52 Week challenge, week 1

IMG_8077

I’ve been liking the SMASH* concept more and more lately. If you are not familliar with SMASH* it’s really the classic book full of clippings that got revived in a new form. K & Company markeded the SMASH* concept a couple of years ago and made a video on how to do it, but what I love about SMASH* is that there are no right or wrong. You can use it any way you want. When I got my first SMASH* folio I used it to make layouts but in a smaller format. Now I love the idea to collect all the odds and ends that turns up in the handbag. Things like tickets and reciepts that really are junk but have a story to tell. To me it is another way to document a story. When my layouts are meant to look nice and be shown to people the SMASH* folio is a more playful and informal way to document my stories, mostly for my own eyes. I just started with a 52 weeks SMASH-challenge on facebook and each week we all get a theme to work with. I thought it would be a good way to document myself. This week the theme was this makes me happy. It’s also my DT post for Hobbyworld this week.

IMG_8081

A while ago I ordered mini prints of all my Instagram photos. They were perfect for this spread, I just flipped through all of my pictures and picked the ones that was of every-day things that makes me happy. I thought it would say more of me as a person than the fact that my kids and my familly makes me happy. I also found a perfect spread in my Blue SMASH* folio with a list to put down a few words about each picture.

Inspiration for the May challenge

IMG_8036

Here are my inspiration for the May challenge at Hobbyworld. Well, sort of... Since I am a bit confused i totally missed the fact that there were supposed to be flowers also. There are no flowers on this card obviously. So please do send in something for the challenge but don’t forget the flowers ;-)

IMG_8035

I was sorting through my stash and could not find a single purple paper or embellishment. So I made my own using vanilla cardstock, stamps and inkpads. The butterfly is diecut from a vanilla cardstock that I presseda to my inkpad to make it purple. Then I also stamped on it using a darker color. I cut up some bling from Prima to make antennas. Isn’t it just lovely?

I would love to see your creations so don’t miss out on the challenge for this month. All the details are to be found in this post.

I also want to remind you of my new blog that are sort of all done now and I will just have to commit to using only that one. Desicions desicions... Well you’ll find it at http://mayasblog.typepad.com so bookmark it, subscribe to it (what are you using now that google reader will be gone??? I must find a new reader soon, all suggestions are welcome) and please tell me if you like it! Or if you don’t like it, please tell me why... Thanks!

Crafty Bands

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was asked if my kids could help trying out the new Crafty Bands for Hobbyworld. Of course they did! We have been home from school and day care for two straight weeks because of illness and they are really getting restless. They were really happy to be asked to help out trying to make some bracelets. Here are some pictures from our bracelet workshop.

IMG_7920IMG_7938IMG_7945IMG_7960IMG_7979IMG_7987IMG_8005IMG_8011

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I got the starter kit and there was enough supplies to make 4 bracelets. It was enough to keep the kids busy for a long time. I just put out some scrap paper and magazines and everything else needed was in the kit. When you are done making your four bracelets you can buy more supplies. The punch you can use as a regular Epiphany Crafts punch also. So, what did the kids think? They LOVED it!!! They asked me if I couldn’t go back to Södertälje to get some more stuff to make more bracelets.

Visiting Hobbyworld

Last weekend I went to Södertälje to meet up with some of the other girls from Hobbyworlds DT, Helena who is our coordinator and of course Richard and Mikael who are the owners. We had a great weekend meating some of our awesome retailers, Eva and Marinette from Inzpira Magazine and last but not least Peter from Sizzix who had a couple of super inspirational workshops. We all got a chance to look around at the warehouse and see all the great products. Here are some pictures from the weekend, all taken with my iPhone so the quality is not the best.

bild

Our very nice hotel room, but it was a bit to warm in the night to sleep very well.

In the evening we all went out for Libanese food. I never had it before and I absolutely LOVED it! I ate way too much, there was 16 small courses and all of them was so good!

bild2

We had a lot of laughs, it was a really nice dinner. Here are Helena and Malin, I love those girls! We have so much fun toghether!

bild8

Me and Tesa having a fit before sleeping ;) I laughed until I cried! Tesa is the best :)

bild5

On saturday me and Malin had a demo for our retailers showing all the great stuff the Cameo can do. I didn’t have a chance to see Petes workshop that day but here are what we did on sunday. I made this card, it was a challenge but when I got in to it it was so much fun and Pete is a really great guy. I was really inspired just by talking to him. Got a lot of ideas popping up in my head. It all looks so easy when he shows it...

bild4

Me and Pete. I had to have a picture toghether with him. :)

bild6

Here Pete is talking about the different die cutting machines and the difference between them. I got my eye on the big blue one. Oh, I wish it could end up in my scrap room! <3 I know everyone loved the new Teal BigShot but Im totally happy with my black and pink one. I did like the new longer platforms for the new one though.

bild7

I also got to meet these fun girls! Marinette and Eva from Inzpira Magazine. They were talking about how Inzpira Magazine came to be and where it’s heading. Very interesting! I’m telling you, these ladies knows what they are doing! We were all loving the new number of Inzpira, Pete said it was one of the best scrapbooking magazines in Europe. I also have to brag about my card being published in the latest number, yey! Anyways, it was great meeting Marinette and Eva for real, they are both really nice!

bild9

Unfortionetley the weekend had to end. Me and Tesa waited toghether for our trains. I was soooo tierd. So much fun and not enough sleep ;) Tesa looks as good as she always do, I probably looked a bit worse ;)

I didn’t get any pictures of all of us toghether. But check out this post in the Inzpira blog and see all of us toghether :)

Boy Crazy

IMG_7909

I got a lot of cool paper and embellishments from My Minds Eyes Boy Crazy Collection from Hobbyworld and wanted to use it for something fun. I found this great picture of my son building rocket ships with Lego. I really think he is amazing when it comes to engineering, he thinks of everything like how they cook, go to the bathroom and who cleans up on the ship.

IMG_7916

I’ve been using stickers, felt embellishments, chipboard, brads and enamel dots. Everything is a bit random on this page.

IMG_7917

I attached some brads on the windows of the rocket to make it even more fun. I also made beams from the engine with my sewing machine.

Today I’m at Hobbyworld HQ in Södertälje with parts of the DT and some of our great retailers. I hope we can inspire them. We will also meet Peter Hughes from Sizzix and I’m really excited! I hope I’ll have some time to learn from him.

I also want to remid you that today is the last day to send us your creations for the april challenge. It is a sketch that I made and you can find all the info here. We really want to se your creations!

Project life

Fist I wanted to tell you I’m thinking of moving my blog to typepad, I’m trying it out right now. If you see this in my blogger-blog please pop over to http://mayasblog.typepad.com and give me some feedback on wich you like the most. If you see it in typepad you can visit my blogger-blog at http://smautbrott.blogspot.com . I think I will move since I really like the platform and all the tools and great layouts. But I wouldn’t want to lose any of my regular visitors, you make my day! Just looking in at the stats and seeing how many of you who pops by regularly from all over the world makes my heart happy! So please help me decide! I’ll be double posting for a while.

IMG_7905

I wanted to give Project Life a try. I know I wont be making a spread every week, I don’t take enough pictures and don’t have the dicipline to make something each week (and I realised it was much more tie consuming than I anticipated) but maby once a month or for special days like Christmas. So I started out with my brothers great pictures from this Christmas and Simple Stories 24/7-collection kit.

IMG_7907

I really like how my first spread turned out but as I said. It took a lot of time! I like to be able to scrap a lot of pictures at once. I was a bit supriced at how much supplies that I used for one spread, but I like to embellish ;)

IMG_7906

I know I’ll love looking at this page in the future and I added some more journaling behind the cards. I like how it sort of captures all the parts of our christmas all at once and then you can see some more details if you look closer. So I’ll definetly do some more PL-inspired scrapbooking but it won’t be that often I think. I’ll put the pages in my regular albums. I just put them in the order I make them. I probably should sort them later but at the moment I only have two full albums (need to get a new one), I dont do that many LOs. How do you sort your LOs?

Today is more than just a good day...

IMG_7897

I made this card for Hobbyworld using some scrap pieces from Basic Greys amazing collection True Love and a heart punch. A really easy card to make but I love how it turned out. I sorted the hearts by color to make an ombre effect and used some prima gemstones to bling it up a bit.

IMG_7902

I have some catching up to do (again) in the blog. I’ve been trying out Project Life and doing some other random things. For some reason I have trouble getting myself to the scraproom nowadays. I’m not sure why but there are slightly less activity here on the blog since I typically just get my Hobbyworld project done each week. And when I do get something else done it takes forever for me to actually blog it. I need to get back to some kind of regularity again, anyone have some advice on how to do that? I still get some small bursts of inspiration but to actually do something is apparently very hard right now... Thanks for stopping by anyways, at least sundays are a sure thing still :)

Fot-o-shoot

IMG_7883

As inspiration for this months challenge at Hobbyworld (don’t miss it!), that just happens to be a sketch made by myself, I made a layout with a picture of my daughter from when she was tree months old. I flipped the sketch on the side to make little banners from one of the sides.

IMG_7884

I used the cute Knee Highs collection from Basic Grey for my layout. The colors and patterns are just lovely and it matches the pink fishes on the onesie really good.

IMG_7885

My daughter is still a princess even though a bit larger than on this photo, she is allready 5 years old. I embellished her crown with some enamel dots.

IMG_7887

Here you can see some of all the lovely patterns in the collection, I hand cut the banners.

Do check out the monthly challenge at Hobbyworld, there is always a great price and your creation will be shown in the blog for everyone to see :)
